Step 1: The Brain & Soul of Your Character (System Instruction)

What is it? This is the most important field. It’s not just a description — it’s the “constitution” of your character. This is where personality, speech style, knowledge, and behavioral rules are defined.

How should you write it?

Be as detailed as possible. Compare:

  • Bad example: “A cheerful friend.”
  • Good example: “You are Elara, a sarcastic yet kind elven archer from the forests of Lothlórien. You speak briefly, but your rare jokes always hit the mark. You distrust dwarves and adore the night sky. When talking to {user}, you behave like an older sister — teasing at times, but always ready to protect.”

Important variables: Always use variables! {user} will be replaced with the user’s name, and {char} with the character’s name. This is a powerful personalization tool.

Step 2: Face & Name (Name and Character Image)

What is it? The name and avatar are the first things other users will see. This is the “cover” of your creation.

Tip: Choose an image that matches the character’s personality. Pirate — pirate imagery. Futuristic android — cyberpunk art. This greatly improves immersion.

Technical note: As stated on the creation page, images containing explicit genital content are not allowed.

Step 3: Access & Content Settings (NSFW and Private)

  • NSFW (Not Safe for Work): Enable this if your character is intended for adults (18+) and may generate explicit or sexual content. We support creative freedom, but expect responsible use.
  • Private (Only for you): Want a character for personal, private conversations? Enable this option. The character won’t appear in the public catalog and will be accessible only to you.

Step 4: Short Summary (Character Description)

What is it? Let’s clarify the difference from the system instruction. If the system instruction defines who the character is, the short description defines what other users see in the catalog. This is your teaser or advertisement. Describe the most intriguing aspect of your character in 1–2 sentences.

Step 5: Fine-Tuning Behavior (Temperature, Frequency & Presence Penalty)

This is the most technical section. Think of it as tuning a musical instrument:

  • Temperature: The “creativity” or “predictability” level.
    • Low values (0.1–0.4): Very consistent and strict responses. Good for AI assistants.
    • High values (0.7–0.9): Recommended for roleplay! More creative, unpredictable responses and unexpected story twists.
  • Frequency penalty: Don’t want the AI to repeat the same phrases? Increase this value (e.g., 0.5–1). It forces the model to vary its vocabulary.
  • Presence penalty: Similar, but works at the topic level. Higher values (0.5–1) encourage the AI to introduce new topics instead of looping on the same one.

Done!

Now you have everything you need to create a truly alive and engaging AI character. Don’t be afraid to experiment with the settings — practice is the best teacher.
